Marshall Steam Museum

One of Delaware’s most distinctive attractions is the Marshall Steam Museum, which is located on Creek Road in adjacent Yorklyn.

The museum’s origins may be traced back to the mid-1940s, when a local began collecting vehicles and associated objects that would ultimately comprise the majority of the museum’s collection.

The majority of the antique and historic cars on exhibit date back to the early days of the automobile and many of them are propelled by engines that run on steam and electricity rather than fuel.

There’s also a miniature-sized steam train that takes guests on narrated tours of the site.

Rockwood Museum

Another renowned regional site that was created right before the Civil War is the Rockwood Museum in Wilmington.

At the time, the house was home to a famous local banker and his family. Despite the fact that it has been in the family for generations, it is now a museum maintained by a local non-profit organization.

The museum, like many of the area’s older attractions, exhibits art and historically significant relics and is available to the public for self-guided and staff-led tours.

In addition, the museum organizes a variety of special events, such as ghost tours and seasonal presentations throughout the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons.
